Rich Wiles : Artist Bio
Ongoing Journeys has been developed by photographic artist Rich Wiles whose practice for many years has focussed on issues of ‘home’ and ‘identity’ in various contexts.
This project has been in development since Wiles returned to the UK in 2016 after many years based in Palestine where, alongside his long-term personal projects, he also spent several years working on participatory photography projects with young refugees. Previously, Wiles has also implemented various socially-engaged arts projects in UK schools.
Wiles’ various projects have been exhibited in 12 different countries and his work has been widely featured in the international media and photographic press. He is also the author and/or editor of 6 books showcasing different strands of his collaborative practice.
Rich Wiles’ work has been recognised in awards including the Sony World Photography Awards, Humanity Photography Awards, Travel Photographer of the Year, UNHCR Innovation Awards, the St. Hughs Arts Foundation Award, the Palestine Photography Award and the Fujifilm Student Digital Photographer of the Year. He has also been the recipient of Arts Council England ‘Grants to the Arts’ awards on three occasions.
